October 29, 2014

Life is all about choices. We make numerous choices every day. When you come to a fork in the road you have to make a choice take the left fork or the right fork or stand still or go backwards. When you're pursuing any passion you have to make a conscious decision, a choice, to really go after it. Decisions are making those choices. If we choose to vacillate that is a choice.

Think about how many choices you make every day. The choices of what clothes you wear. The choices of what you eat. The choices of what you focus on at work or play. CHOICES-CHOICES-CHOICES.

When we choose to focus on certain things, good or bad, that is a choice. And we know that whatever we focus on we can accomplish. Yet sometimes we choose not to focus. Whatever we choose to focus on becomes a priority and is much more likely to be accomplished. Focus is critical in moving forward. It is kind of like the business that is targeting everybody in a marketing campaign as opposed to the business that targets a niche with their marketing. Which one is much more likely get a better return on their investment? Of course it is the one with the targeted FOCUS.

Now the real challenge comes with discipline. Discipline is the critical element to staying focused. Discipline is necessary to stay laser focused on what you choose to focus on. Then you encounter the big challenge of making sure you are disciplined enough to major in the majors and not major in minors.

Discipline is critical to managing your time. The fact is, you cannot manage time but you can manage yourself. Again, you choose what you focus on and you choose how disciplined you are to stay focused and how to utilize your time.

Discipline is necessary to creating a habit. Supposedly it takes 21 days to create a habit. Therefore, it is important to track it to ensure that you are executing the thing you want to do to make it a habit. Again, you need to choose to focus and be disciplined to execute for 21 days to make it a habit.

Life is about the choices we make. Which CHOICES you choose to FOCUS on and the DISCIPLINE to stay focused.

How good are you at making choices, making that decision to be focused on your priority or priorities and then having the discipline to maintain that focus?
