I Believe

I believe in GOALS, not moving goal posts—what better way to destroy ones mindset than to move goals after they have been achieved. Some in power, making decisions have conveyed they will not open their economy until we have a cure and/or vaccine. Yet we have been fighting cancer and AIDS for how long, without a cure or vaccine.

I believe that we all live with RISK all day, every day. We risk death when we get up in the morning, walk down steps, get in a car. We risk happiness in the choices we make. We risk financial stability in the everyday decisions we make. Life is about choices, weigh risks and rewards against each other.

I believe in LIFE. Next month I will be 71 years old. I am one of those listed as vulnerable to COVID-19 due to age and other health issues. I have lived through the Polio epidemic, the Cold War, asbestos, the Cuban Missile Crisis, Vietnam, the cultural revolution of the 60s, the sexual revolution, the AIDS epidemic, H1N1, SARS, other health scares, ridiculously high interest rates of the 70s, divorce, personal financial challenges, Hurricane Andrew, 911 and the aftermath, the Olympic bombing in Atlanta, several recessions, cancer, two knee replacements, a hip replacement, and a total of 14 surgeries, plus many other challenges. I choose to live my life, my way, making my decisions, not staying in my house for who knows how long.

I believe in LIBERTY. If I live to be 80, I will have lived about 4,000 weeks. I figure I have less than 500 weeks left. I am going to do everything I can to get the most out of those 500 weeks. Continuing to move the goal posts as to when and what I can do is infuriating. Give me liberty …

I believe in the CONSTITUTION of the United States. Not allowing people to worship as they choose has been unforgiveable. Easter Sunday, where almost everyone was not allowed to attend church and others gathering to worship, getting citations for attending, staying in their cars to worship was a tipping point for me. The First Amendment to the Constitution, the Bill of Rights provides us with the freedom to worship. How many will remember this when their Governor is up for re-election?

I believe in the PURSUIT OF HAPPINESS. I choose to live my life on my terms, making my choices, with no intention to harm others. No politician, no doctor, no scientist is going to make that decision for me. I will listen to their recommendations on how to conduct myself, but I will make my own decisions and choices. If I choose to go to a restaurant when they open to serving in doors, I will do it. If I choose to shop in stores, I will do it. If I choose to attend a baseball game when allowed, I will do it. I believe in HAVING A BLAST WHILE I LAST!
